The starting weight of the Nova-C lander is 1.9 tons, most of which is naturally fuel. The height of the hexagonal landing unit is 3 m, its diameter is 2 m, and its payload can be 100 kg. Its main VR900 engine burns methane with liquid oxygen, while its solar panels provide 200 W of power. In principle, the spacecraft may be able to lift off after a successful landing and fly to another location.
The first CLPS lunar probe – Astrobotic’s Peregrine probe – launched towards our celestial companion in January of this year (!). But he never got there, because shortly after the start it was discovered that the fuel was leaking. The commercial lunar probe thus burned up in the Earth’s atmosphere 10 days after launch. After this, it is understandable that everyone is looking forward to the American arrival on the moon.
